Description

Choice impulsivity and risk attitude are characteristic of addictive disorders and are associated to changes in the brain's valuation circuit due to chronic substance abuse. The computations that take place in this circuit are highly dependent on context and explain the variability en decision-making behavior in healthy individuals. Our hypothesis is that different clinical states that patients with addiction to opioids experience during treatment — particularly in high craving states — as well as symptomatology can lead to changes in the necessary computations for decision-making that could lead to a return to drug use.
