Project Details
Description
The purpose of this study of SLE is to determine its cause, to improve understanding of it, and to help find new therapies. One very important part of this study is to help find the genes that cause lupus and to explain how they work. This study is expected to help lead toward advances that improve the diagnostic tests and therapies for lupus. Scientists will be working both here in Oklahoma and in other places. Mouthwash and blood samples (approximately 3/8 cup of blood) will be taken. Risks from the blood draw include; mild discomfort, bruising at the blood-drawing site, fainting or dizziness, and infection.
