The manipulation of organic solvents in the workplace is considered a public health problem, as there is epidemiological evidence that relates it to the development of cancer and other diseases. Specifically, automobile painters are exposed to harmful substances such as pure solvents or complex mixtures of them such as thinner, as well as paints made with lead-based pigments and plastic monomers.
