Project: Research Project

Project Details

Description

The purpose of the project is to study the main proposals of political philosophy developed in Colombia in the last century. The project focuses on the study of some of the most outstanding Colombian philosophers who have contributed notoriously in this area: Cayetano Betancur, Nicolás Gómez Dávila, Danilo Cruz Vélez, Rafael Gutiérrez Girardot and Guillermo Hoyos Vásquez.
From a cultural and political point of view, the task of reconstructing and discussing Colombian political philosophy is urgent. The construction of a viable and peaceful country requires the critical and responsible consideration of Colombian political philosophy, both for the value represented by a philosophical thought situated in a politically conflictive cultural context, and for the contributions that responsible thinking of philosophy can provide to culture in general and to the political and social order in the common task of responding to the political problems of our time.
The project is expected to generate greater national and international interest in Colombian political philosophy and a better knowledge of it, both in the academic and scientific communities as well as in society in general.
