Project Details

Description

Cryptococcosis is a fungal infection of worldwide distribution, caused by Cryptococcus neoformans and Cryptococcus gattii, which presents high morbidity and mortality rates, primarily affecting people with HIV/AIDS. However, the epidemiology of this mycosis is changing, and there are increasing numbers of cases in patients with other risk factors or even apparently healthy individuals, making early detection of this opportunistic infection necessary.
