Entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship development and productive inclusion

This project seeks to establish the effectiveness of a group of interventions in the process of formalization of informal ventures in Colombia. In the first place, it is proposed to explore a research agenda to understand the dynamics of entrepreneurial informality and informal enterprises in the country, taking into account their intergenerational connection, informal social networks and social and managerial capital. This agenda will be leveraged by the human resource training of the Minuto de Dios University Foundation (Uniminuto) in the master's and doctoral programs of the Universidad del Rosario (URosario), and its joint work with the research professors of the Faculty of Economics.

Secondly, three case studies are proposed in which interventions will be made to understand possible public policy strategies to promote the formalization of these businesses. First, with the experience and knowledge of Fundación AVINA, through the provision of management education and technical assistance to recyclers' associations, it will be explored whether it is possible to link more members, improve their performance, and formalize pre-cooperatives. Second, a model of joint innovation between recyclers' associations and the local academy, the Universidad Autónoma Latinoamericana (Unaula), is explored to achieve the development of a technology that improves the working conditions of this population and in turn encourages participation in existing associations. Within this framework, it will be determined whether these interventions are related to informal social networks and present social capital. Third, based on the international experience of Fundación Capital, the impact of an intervention based on financial and digital education will be determined in achieving higher levels of formality in neighborhood stores through the use of information technologies, along with the ability to empower them with the support of the local academy.

Finally, the intergenerational links in the informality of family businesses will be studied and an entrepreneurship curriculum will be established in the Uniminuto, based on the following principles experience of the Progresa entrepreneurship center, which allows us to explore whether management education can influence the formalization of such establishments. As results we seek to obtain a rigorous technical evaluation on the effectiveness of the proposals, the direct improvement of the quality of life of the populations to intervene, and the construction of a varied academic production of first level worldwide pioneer in entrepreneurship issues in countries of the region.
