Education and entrepreneurship for peace

Project: Research Project

Project Details

Description

This project seeks to consolidate the main results of the Responsible Peace Seal research project. One of the main conclusions of the project is that the sustainability of peacebuilding initiatives carried out by companies in Colombia depends on their relationship with the productive activity of the organization. In the specific case of the Universidad del Rosario, its contribution to peacebuilding must be associated with its social purpose as an organization. In this sense, the objective of this second stage is to achieve through educational processes the creation and sustainability of strategic alliances between students of the Universidad del Rosario and local entrepreneurship initiatives that are developed in remote areas of Bogota. The strategic partners of this proposal are the programme Programme court en entrepreneuriat of the University of TELUQ, the Entrepreneurship Centre of the University of Rosario and the Social Foundation. The project seeks to adjust to Colombian reality a virtual entrepreneurship program, implemented for more than ten years by the University of Téluq and which aims to reach people without any degree of schooling. The course will be given to a first group made up of 15 victims and/or demobilized people from Barrio Olaya (Cartagena) who have a local entrepreneurship initiative and 15 students from Universidad del Rosario interested in becoming business mentors, allies or partners in these ventures. Once the course ends, both the Faculty of Jurisprudence and the Entrepreneurship Center should develop research modalities aimed at monitoring the long-term impacts of the educational process. The objective is to replicate the program in other vulnerable areas where the Social Foundation works and thus involve students in concrete peacebuilding experiences.
