Description

The Ministry of Social Protection, from the perspective of insurance, defines Comprehensive Health Risk Management (CHRM) as a cross-cutting strategy of the comprehensive health care policy, which is based on the articulation of the health system and other sectors to identify, evaluate, measure and intervene in the health risks of individuals, families and communities, aimed at achieving health results and providing wellbeing to the population, It is based on the articulation of the health system and other sectors to identify, evaluate, measure and intervene in the health risks of individuals, families and communities, aimed at achieving health outcomes and providing wellbeing to the population. Thus, there are diseases that cause great costs for the health system, contributing to affect its balance and sustainability, so much so that Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) appears on the list of high-cost diseases, both for its impact in itself, as well as for the association it entails with other comorbidities.
The objective of this research is to determine the economic burden and health-related quality of life of patients with RA in the Central Military Hospital. To this end, the costs associated with the severity index (DAS28) will be identified, in addition to estimating out-of-pocket expenses and the probability of catastrophic health expenditures in households, in addition to determining the health-related quality of life of a population of patients with RA.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional, correlational research where the bases reported to the high cost account of RA patients for the periods 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 will be taken, analyzing sociodemographic, clinical and cost variables assigned to the consumption of health resources, after which this information will be crossed with the application of Marcov models for the different stages of the disease, the EQ5D questionnaire for Colombia and the DANE out-of-pocket expenditure survey will be applied to a sample of patients with RA.
Results: It is intended that the results will provide recommendations for the elaboration of policies in economic decision analysis or risk assessment, changes in health care practice, which will contribute to the application of evidence for decision making in health administration.
