Project Details
Description
Physical inactivity has been considered one of the risk factors for non-communicable diseases and mental health, in addition to increasing mortality globally and having a direct impact on health system cost overruns due to depression by 30%, hypertension by 22% and dementia by 21%, among other pathologies (Kohl, et al., 2012; Costa Santos, Willumsen, Meheus, Ilbawi, & Bull, 2023). Based on this, the International Society for Physical Activity and Health (ISPAH) (Milton, et al., 2021), has proposed that the main areas of investment for the promotion of Physical Activity should be I) school-wide programmes, II) active transportation, III) active urban design, IV) health care, V) public education, VI) sport and recreation, VII) workplaces and VIII) community programmes. Therefore, this consultancy seeks to focus its actions on public education, which is based on the media as the most effective way to convey coherent and clear messages about the health benefits of physical activity for large population groups, by gathering evidence, formulating the message and delivering the message (ISPAH, 2020).
In this line, this consultancy project aims to provide scientific knowledge about the benefits and impacts of physical activity on physical, mental and emotional health in the general population and in people with pathologies. It is proposed to produce a series of 40-minute videos in which topics such as the role of the body in emotional regulation, the effects of physical activity or physical exercise on the population, the pathophysiology of diseases, risk factors associated with the onset of pathologies, among others, are presented.
