Project Details
Description
Recent adversarial collaborations on person perception, and person and group stereotypes suggest two main dimensions of social evaluation (Warmth/ Communion: the horizontal dimension and Competence/ Agency: the vertical dimension). Contrary to this, moral character research suggests that folk follow a tri-dimensional model where morality is a third and more central dimension of person perception that can be distinguished from the horizontal dimension. This pre-registered multi-site study aims to directly contrast these hypotheses across a number of social targets including the self, another agent, an in-group, an outgroup and agents from in-groups and outgroups.
