Yeny Acosta-Ampudia is an associate professor at the Center for the Study of Autoimmune Diseases (CREA) of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the Universidad del Rosario. Professor Acosta is a biologist from the University of Tolima. She obtained her PhD in Immunology from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain in 2013. Her undergraduate teaching has focused on Translational medicine, host defense and response in the Medicine program, and biomedical in the nursing program. She has also participated as a teacher in the diploma course in autoimmunity and the diploma course in post-Covid syndrome. On the other hand, she has carried out training activities for research seed students, research assistants, master's and doctoral students. Professor Acosta has participated as a researcher in the CREA and Translational Medicine group recognized by Minciencias. Her main lines of interest are immunology, virology and autoimmunity, as demonstrated by more than 50 scientific publications in these areas. She has been a researcher on different research projects related to the common mechanisms of autoimmune diseases and biomarkers in autoimmunity. In recent years, her scientific interest has been framed in the study of the immune response against SARS-CoV-2, as demonstrated by her participation in the clinical trial of the study of convalescent plasma for the treatment of COVID-19 in Colombia. She has also participated in the Post-Covid Syndrome project. She is currently the principal investigator of the autoimmune ecology project that studies the role of environmental contaminants in the development of autoimmune diseases.
