Andrés García-Suaza has been a member of the teaching and research staff at Universidad del Rosario since 2008. He graduated with honors as an economist from the University of Antioquia. He also earned a master's degree in Economics from Universidad del Rosario and a PhD (cum laude) in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, a program he completed with a doctoral scholarship from the Banco de la República de Colombia. He has been a visiting professor at Boston College and the University of Zurich.
Throughout his career, he has dedicated his research to the analysis of the Colombian labor market, with a special interest in topics such as informality and gender gaps. He has published more than 20 articles in indexed journals and has participated in recognized conferences in the discipline, such as those of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association, the Royal Economic Society, the North America Regional Science Council, and the European Association of Labor Economists.
Among other academic activities, he has led a variety of projects within Universidad del Rosario, such as the Labor Observatory (LaboUR); the Center for Innovation, Creation and Research with Information Technologies (Tic Tank); the UR Equidad research hub; the Colombia OECD Observatory (COLOCDE) and the EFI Alliance, one of the eight ecosystems of Colombia Científica. In his consulting activities, he has worked in institutions such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank - CAF, the Federation of Coffee Growers, Porvenir, the WWB Foundation, the Ministry of Labor, the Public Employment Service, the International Labor Organization and the Ministry of Justice.
