Objectives

To foster a space for academic and research exchange in which students can gain practical experience researching, writing, and collaborating among peers. - Collaborate with civil society organizations and other academic institutions, and in the process broaden students' networks and expertise. - Generate different kinds of print, digital multimedia and/or virtual content, working papers, reflective, analytical and/or research articles for publication.

Description

The "Politics and Law(s)" research group seeks to contribute to research and analysis on the following topics: rights, political participation, democracy and rights, law and politics, the relationship between the judicial system and the political system, among others.

Researcher's profile: The research group in Politics and Law(s) promotes research and reflection projects aimed at understanding the relationship between politics and law. In particular, it studies how political dynamics shape and mold law, as well as how law conditions political activity. The seedbed has two active projects at the moment. The first one studies the underrepresentation of women in municipal councils and the second one analyzes the challenges of the system of institutional checks and balances in Colombia.

Working methodology: Weekly meetings. Each project has a coordinator, a graduate of FEIPU, who coordinates the work with undergraduate students. The project seeks to be a space where students who participate can acquire research competencies and skills through practice. We do archival work, read secondary sources, provide spaces for dialogue and discussion, write research-based analyses and seek to disseminate these works digitally.

Prerequisites for admission: Depends on the needs of the project
