Description:

Smart Threads is an interdisciplinary research group that brings together with Facultiy of Creation and the School of Engineering, Science and Technology to explore and develop innovations in the field of smart textiles. Through the convergence of fashion and technology, we seek to create solutions that integrate advanced functionalities into garments and textiles. developing applications from vital sign monitoring, to measure interaction force between human and textiles, among others. All this, to adaptation to environmental conditions. In collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering program at School of Medicine and Heath Sciences, we aim to materialize scientific research into tangible products that benefit real users, establishing a bridge between academic research and practical applications in the fashion and health markets.

General Objective:

  1. Develop innovative solutions in the field of smart textiles through the integration of knowledge in design, fashion, and engineering, to create products that improve users' quality of life.

Objectives:

  1. Research and experiment with new technologies and smart materials applicable to textiles, establishing a knowledge base about their properties and potential applications
  2. Design and develop functional prototypes of smart garments that integrate health monitoring technologies, in collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering research group
  3. Create interdisciplinary work methodologies that facilitate effective collaboration between students and professors from the Faculties of Creation and Engineering and document and disseminate research results and developments through academic publications, participation in events, and design exhibitions.
