The Colombian Observatory of Organized Crime - OCCO seeks to train new generations of researchers dedicated to the development of more effective solutions to respond to the challenges posed by organized crime in Colombia and the region. The Organized Crime seedbed is a space open to all students of Universidad del Rosario - although especially conceived for those students linked to the programs of Political Science and Government, and International Relations - where they can have a first research experience on issues related to organized crime.

Semillero Profile:

The Organized Crime Semillero was created to strengthen research capabilities for both students and graduates of the School of Political, International and Urban Studies, through the use of diverse quantitative and qualitative research practices. Currently, the seedbed is focused on the studies of criminal dynamics in the period after the signing of the peace agreements and the changes that these have generated in the territory.

Methodology of work:

The analyses on which the seedbed is working focus on the study of dynamics at the municipal level by focusing on how these dynamics erode the peace process signed with the FARC guerrilla. For this purpose, quantitative and qualitative information is taken into account, obtained from open sources as well as information collected directly by the seedbed in field work, interviews and any other necessary methodology. Analyses at the municipal level allow for an in-depth understanding of the actions of criminal groups, their level of involvement in the territory and the relationships that develop among them. Data collection, regional analysis, discourse analysis.

Results:

As results of the seedbed, the generation of a dissemination event of the findings made through the research process is expected, as well as the realization of briefs that account for the findings found at the municipal level of criminal dynamics. It is also expected to publish a Working Paper by.
