Profile of the seedbed: To advance research processes from the intercultural perspective and the diversity of knowledge in relation to traditional medicine and health focused on cultural agents such as traditional doctors, midwives and sobanderos.

Methodology of work: It is done through face-to-face and virtual meetings to talk about health research processes in indigenous peoples at national and local level in the resguardo, with spaces for intercultural conversations and research processes from the resguardo and city context with indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities, seeking to highlight all this knowledge in primers where the testimonies and life experiences of traditional doctors, sobanderos and midwives are specified.

Pre-requisites for admission:
Age range over 17 years old.
Academic rank of 2 semesters or more.
Previous knowledge of traditional medicine or interest in learning about the importance of indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities at the national and local level.
Be undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate students and graduates of Universidad del Rosario.

Active lines or projects:  
Life experiences in health issues of sobanderos, midwives and traditional doctors in Indigenous Communities (Yanacona, Kamëntšá, Arahuaco, Muisca, Misak,) and Afro-Colombians.
The importance of the land, care and healing practices through the use of herbs, maneuvers, special formulas and prayers performed by traditional healers of Afro-Colombian and indigenous people.
Analysis of medicinal plants (Yagé, Tobacco, Coca, Marijuana, Marigold) for intercultural health care.
Generate proposals to elaborate an intercultural health policy.

Disciplines of the seedbed: Any undergraduate of the Universidad del Rosario.

THEME: INTERCULTURAL CIRCLE OF THE WORD AROUND COVID-19

OBJECTIVE: To generate a space for dialogue from western and traditional medicine to articulate various positions around the COVID-19 vaccination.

RESULTS: It was possible to evidence the interest of all attendees in the topic of vaccination in indigenous communities, clarification of myths about covid-19 and it was possible to show that in the indigenous territories they resort to natural medicine because they do not have the confidence to go to hospitals due to the health condition.

CONCLUSIONS: It was mentioned the distrust that existed with the elders of the indigenous territories since they considered that the vaccine was going to harm them, reiterating the distrust that exists regarding the vaccination issue, that the state should make sensitizing campaigns in the indigenous languages to make known the whole vaccination process and the processes of conventional medicine around the issue of COVID-19. Similarly, some myths were mentioned about the vaccination against COVID-19 and one of them, the most interesting one, which was circulating in some territories, was that the vaccine was killing people, besides generating the sterilization of women, causing great distrust.

THEME: CULTURAL AGENTS AS KEY ACTORS IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE

OBJECTIVE: To make known the importance of our traditional doctors, sobanderas, elders and elders as cultural agents of each community, making known the life experiences and knowledge acquired throughout their important trajectory hand in hand with the help of the community. 

RESULT: Very favorable results were obtained about this event, the external participants asked their questions to our sabedores, traditional doctors and mayoras who accompanied us about how their trajectory had been, frequently asked questions such as, How did they position themselves as a cultural agent? How did they fill themselves with all that important knowledge to be able to help the community? What is needed to start with the trajectory of sabedores? And many more questions that were answered by our guests.

An emphasis was made on the transcendence of knowledge in relation to the healing of body, mind and spirit, which bring with them energies that prepare the space in which one lives in order to have a prosperous life and a direct connection with mother earth.

CONCLUSIONS:  The experiences of life from traditional medicine in the different contexts in which they are found and the way in which this knowledge can be strengthened and expanded in spaces of intercultural knowledge exchange. Emphasizes that it is important to continue working with this inherited knowledge in order not to lose these customs, especially with the use of healing herbs and how nature serves as a means of healing. It was also made known that traditional medicine, the use of medicinal plants are for health purposes, healing purposes and reject the satanism that has been given to traditional medicine by religious or ill-intentioned people.
