Research Incubator: Epidemiology and biostatistics (EPIBIOS-UR)

Organization profile

Organization profile

EPIBIOS_UR the Semillero of Epidemiology and Biostatistics UR is a study group made up of students from all the programs of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Rosario who want to learn outside the classroom about the research process. Guided by teachers, students begin by defining the working group, defining the research question, constructing the protocol and developing it. They will later develop skills for simple data analysis and presentation of results. Finally, they will have the ability to train in the preparation of communications to send to academic events, article writing and their communications to academic audiences.

The participating teachers are characterized by presenting contents in a more meaningful way for the students. Also for those who want to inspire and leave a mark on the group not only by sharing content and learning experiences, but by surprising and motivating research.

The members of the study group belong to different disciplines and lines of expertise allowing it to work in different fields, as well as having experts in some specific areas. We are interested in being a group that strengthens the capacities of members regarding collaborative and plural work, as well as promoting the application of knowledge in clinical and public health scenarios. We are interested in generating knowledge that we can share in the form of successful work and relationship experiences, as well as science, technology and innovation products to take to national and international academic scenarios.

Finally, we would like to be a group recognized for its ability to impact decision-making related to the health of populations.

Research Lines:

  • Quantitative research on environment and health.
  • Evidence-based medicine.
  • Application of artificial intelligence methods in epidemiological research.
  • Methods and strategies for adopting and integrating evidence-based health interventions into clinical and community settings.
  • Spatial analysis.

Objectives:

  1. Generate knowledge, form human capital and promote technological development and innovation in the fields of applied epidemiology and biostatistics.
  2. Generate and share useful and applicable knowledge in different research contexts.
  3. Promote and coordinate scientific research.
  4. Integrate artificial intelligence methods in epidemiological research.
  5. To study existing methods on the implementation of health research results for decision-making in clinical, organizational or policy contexts.
  6. Perform spatio-temporal analysis of risk factors in populations.
