Description:
The Research-Creation Group in Dance, Gender, and Corporealities is an academic and artistic space that brings together movement, critical reflection, and creative practice as means to understand, question, and transform the social and cultural realities that shape and traverse bodies. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the group explores the intersections between dance, gender identities, bodily diversities, and cultural practices, understanding the body as a territory of memory, resistance, and creation. In addition to generating knowledge and artistic works within the field of research-creation, the group aims to foster life skills among its members, such as assertive communication, collaborative work, empathy, self-awareness, critical and creative thinking, peaceful conflict resolution, and emotional management. These competencies are strengthened through participatory processes of bodily exploration, theoretical analysis, stage creation, and community dialogue. The group envisions itself as a living laboratory where academic research, artistic creation, and social engagement converge, promoting inclusive, respectful, and transformative practices in educational, cultural, and community contexts.
Objectives:
- Explore the intersections between dance, gender identities, bodily diversities, and cultural practices through research-creation methodologies.
- Critically analyze bodily representations, discourses, and experiences in diverse socio-cultural contexts.
- Design and produce artistic works and creative processes that make visible and challenge hegemonic narratives about the body and gender.
- Disseminate research-creation outcomes in academic, artistic, and community settings at local, national, and international levels.
