Description:

The Biotechnology Applied to Medicine Research Seedbed (BiTeM) is an interdisciplinary team committed to fostering research activities through the application of advanced biotechnological tools. Its mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development of experimental models for the study of diseases, the identification of biomarkers, and the exploration of biotherapeutic alternatives.

This endeavor encompasses the design and implementation of computational biology and bioinformatics models, recombinant proteins production, protein engineering, the investigation of biomarkers, and the development of advanced cellular models for disease research.

Objective

General Aim

To train students, at all levels, in the fundamental principles of biotechnology applied to medicine and healthcare.

Specific Aims

  1. To introduce students to approaches for diagnosis, treatment, and health-related research through the use of biotechnological tools.
  2. To develop competencies in fundamental techniques employed in biotechnology, including bioinformatics tools, molecular and cellular biology methodologies, biochemistry, and biopharmaceutics.
  3. To apply the acquired competencies in the development of undergraduate thesis projects aligned with the research lines of the group.
