Organization profile

In the last decade, we have witnessed the rise of multiple techniques and tools to analyse the social that aim to go beyond the quantitative-qualitative methods divide. Many of these initiatives  have originated as an answer to the challenges imposed to social scientists by the increasing digitisation of the social life. DISOR LAB is a space for learning, debating and experimenting with Digital and inventive methods.

Our approach is inspired by science and technology studies (STS) and the feminist technoscience critique to the materiality of the methods, therefore, we understand that methods perform reality. In a context of increasing technological determinism regarding the Digital and its calculation infrastructures, DISOSLAB wants to be an active and critical voice from the Global South. We engage with digital resources, materials and materialities as a way of understanding ‘Digital society’ and the limitations of the Digital to capture the liveliness of social live.

WHAT WE DO

  • We provide a space of collaborative and horizontal learning about methodological innovations in Social Science.

  • We develop critical research on Digital society and Digital economy.

  • We facilitate spaces of open discussion on digital and computational social science and about the specificities of the Digital as a matter of concern and research.
