The group seeks to explore, analyze, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of academic publishing through interdisciplinary research to strengthen linguistic diversity, editorial quality, technological innovation, and the circulation of knowledge with a critical and proactive approach to respond to the new challenges of university academic publishing.

Objectives:

The group aims to develop critical and interdisciplinary research on the processes, policies, practices, publication dynamics, and technologies of academic publishing in order to contribute to innovation in the circulation and access to scientific knowledge worldwide. To achieve this, the following specific objectives are proposed:

  • Study the dynamics of circulation and access to scientific knowledge in order to promote strategies that strengthen the visibility and democratization of knowledge.
  • Encourage studies that analyze the production, use, representation, and impact of works published in various languages, with the aim of proposing practices that guarantee linguistic inclusion and cultural sustainability in publishing.
  • Contribute to the development and discussion of publishing and scientific policies that provide a framework for the governance, management, and evaluation of academic publications.
  • Propose, develop, and evaluate the scope of innovative methodologies in publishing that respond to technological, scientific, social, and evaluation challenges.
  • Promote education and training in academic publishing, based on the design of training programs and educational resources that contribute to strengthening the capacities of actors in the publishing chain.
  • Promote and identify scientific integrity and editorial ethics in editorial practices, encouraging the development of efficient working practices and methodologies for the various actors in the sector.

Research Lines or Active Projects:

  1. 1. Multilingualism in academic publishing: studies of languages in publishing, contributions to regulation and standardization of good practices for inclusion and sustainability.
  2. 2. Academic publishing, policies, and editorial management: study of regulations and guidelines for metadata management, processes and structures that govern academic publications, and innovation in editorial management.
  3. 3. Quality, impact, and editorial evaluation: analysis of quality indicators, indexing, and evaluation of editorial production (books, journals, grey literature). Development of new tools and methodologies to assess the quality and impact of scientific publications (new metrics and evaluation models), and development of indicators for decision-making.
  4. 4. Knowledge circulation and accessibility: studies related to trends, reach, and channels of scholarly communication, distribution, dissemination, and circulation of scientific knowledge.
  5. 5. Technologies and innovation in academic publishing: exploration, development, and evaluation of digital tools and their impact on editorial processes. Scientific integrity in publishing and responsible use of artificial intelligence. Studies on the impact of technology and forward-looking analyses in the field.
